Blackness & Disability: From the Black Community to Hip-Hop and Higher Education” will be a dialogue between Leroy Moore and Jane Dunhamn, two noted artists and disability activists. They will be speaking about Black disability formations from the home to the community, and from hip-hop to higher education, from the 1980s to the present. 

Moore and Dunhamn have collaborated on Black disability issues for more than fifteen years. Together they have a combined 45 years of disability advocacy experience. During the late 1980’s Jane formed the New Jersey Black Disability Coalition (NJBDC), while in California Leroy formed Disabled Advocates Minority Organization (DAMO). In the 1990’s Jane and Leroy spearheaded the National Black Disability Coalition (NBDC). Leroy’s cultural expression, historical research, international work and activism around Black disabled people create a powerful collaborative dialogue with Jane’s expertise in parent advocacy, legislation, service delivery systems, and disability culture work within the Black community and non-profit organizations.  More information is available here: http://kriphopnation.com/
