Our working group considers a range of important intellectual and political questions emerging within sound studies. We examine contemporary sound studies in relationship to music, speech, listening, and auditory media from a range of historical moments and from various disciplinary perspectives. To that end, this working group draws upon the interdisciplinary strengths of scholars at Rutgers working in literature, film, music, and various aspects of cultural studies.
